Andrew Jackson “Andy” Griffin, Jr., age 73, of Florence, South Carolina passed away Friday, September 17, 2021 at McLeod Hospital after a long illness. Andy was born in Gastonia, NC August 28, 1948 and lived all of his adult life in Florence SC, where he worked at the Florence Police Department for many years then the Florence County Sheriff’s department.Andy and his wife, Carole, also had a catering business in Florence for several years, where they served the county with amazing food.Andy was an amazing “chef”. Andy is survived by his wife, Carolyn Wilkes Griffin; his daughter, Shelly Hartz, her husband, David, and her three sons, Tyler, McLean, and Noah Hartz, and her three grandchildren; his stepdaughter, Lorraine Jackson and her 2 children, Rebecca and Drew Jackson; his stepson, John Wilkes and his children, Joey Hunt and Chelsea Martin, and several grandchildren and great grandchildren; his two sisters, Susan Griffin Garcia and Lisa Griffin Sharpe.Numerous great great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and other loving family members also survive. He was preceded in death by a step-grandson, John Alan Martin. The family will have a private family service only.
