Annie Kate C. Gregg passed away on Sunday, July 17, 2022.She was born to Gorce D. and Betty R. Carmichael in October of 1920 in Fork, SC.Annie Kate grew up in Fork and Zion communities until a move made Claussen home since 1938.She graduated as a Registered Nurse from McLeod Infirmary School of Nursing in 1942, and married Joseph Wallace Gregg in 1944.As a U. S. Army wife, she lived in NC, California, Montana, Germany, and Kentucky until retirement brought them back and she was able to continue nursing in Florence, a career of approximately 30 years. She is survived by her two daughters, Rhonda Eckhardt and Beverly Ramsey of Florence; daughter-in-law Patricia Gregg; a sister, Wilma C. Crews of NC; a brother, Luther R. Carmichael (Lucretia) of Texas, and sister-in-law, Carolyn L. Gregg.Also, granddaughters, Angela Crum (David) of Greenville, Emily Westergreen (Todd) of Newman, GA, and Stormie Gregg; grandsons, John W. Gregg and Randal Bailey (Casey) of Virginia; and 12 great-grandchildren, Evan and Declan Ashley, Katherine, Stirling, Rachel, Hart and Charlie Crum, Olivia Westergreen, Wyatt, Tayte Bailey and Willow Gregg. She is predeceased by her husband; sons, Joseph W. Gregg, Jr. and George M. Gregg; grandson, Larry T. Ashley; and brother, Glenn A. Carmichael. At age 101, Annie Kate has lived a long and helpful life of service to her family and community though her last few years have been difficult.She was an active member of Hopewell Presbyterian Church for approximately 75 years and an honorary life member of the church. She was a member of the SC Nursing Association for many years and a volunteer for McLeod Senior Life and Mercy Medicine Clinic.She also enjoyed membership and friends in her Red Hat group (Carolina Belles), her garden club and many church activities. Funeral service will be held at Hopewell Presbyterian Church at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, July 20, 2022, directed by Stoudenmire-Dowling Funeral Home.Burial will follow in Hopewell Cemetery.Family will greet friends immediately following the burial.
