Annie Laura Smith Florence, SC Annie Laura Smith, 73, of Florence, passed away Sunday, March 4, 2012 in a local hospital after an illness. Ms. Smith was born in Florence, a daughter of the late Dudley L. and Lena Janette Wallace Powell. She was a member of Southside Free Will Baptist Church in Darlington. Ms. Smith was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Edward Colon Smith; her daughter, Patsy Ann Smith; and by a brother, Randy Powell. Ms. Smith is survived by her son, Robert Clayton Smith of Florence;2brothers, Dudley Laverne (Pearl) Powell, Jr of Lake City, Jimmy (Faye) Powell of Elgin; 3 sisters, Mary (Gerald) Furtickof Swanse, Lena R. (Ernest) Frasier of Florence, and Ethelyne (Robert) Perry of Asheville, NC ; 4 grandchildren, Bradley Player, Brandy Miles, and Robert Clayton, Jr., and Joshua Glenn Smith;4 great-grandchildren; and by a special niece and caregiver, Karen Smith of Florence. Funeral Services will be held 11:00AM Thursday at Southside Free Will Baptist Church. Burial will follow at Florence National Cemetery directed by Stoudenmire-Dowling Funeral home.
