Bernice Griffin Couture

Bernice Griffin Couture, 92, of Florence, SC passed away Tuesday, March 11, 2025. She was born in Minturn, SC to the late Attie Mae Hunt Griffin and William Hallie Griffin and was a member of Florence Baptist Temple. After retirement, Bernice enjoyed time with her family, gardening and “junking”. She traveled extensively and loved to fish. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband of 65 years, Willis F. Couture; brothers, William “Bud” Hallie Griffin Jr, Charles Griffin, and Robert Griffin; and sister, Grace DeFields. Surviving are sons, Bill (Gail) Couture, and Greg (Lori) Couture; daughters, Gail (Kent) Whitehead, Ann (Bob) Zahnov, and Kaye (Dave) Myer; sister, Edith DiMarzio; grandchildren, Cindy Joiner Danielle Rea, Nolan Couture, Madeline Whitehead, Bailey Spitler, and Shelby Ridenour; a number of great grandchildren, great- great grandchildren and extended family. The family requests that in lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Florence Baptist Temple, https://abundant.co/fbt/give. The family will receive friends 10:00 – 11:00 AM Saturday, March 15, 2025, at Florence Baptist Church Chapel, with the service to follow at 11:00 AM. Burial will follow at Mount Hope Cemetery directed by Stoudenmire-Dowling Funeral Home.
