Beth Powers Lamm, 63, of Florence, South Carolina, passed away in the arms of her beloved husband in their home on June 27th, 2024 after a short and heroic battle with cancer. Born in Colonia, New Jersey on July 21, 1960 to Patricia Ann Bauer and Richard Francis Powers, Beth was a force to be reckoned with from the beginning. As a four year old child, she once led a gaggle of neighborhood toddlers to the local candy store - across a highway - to rummage for sweets. Her natural gifts of leadership, persuasion, beauty, and good humor followed her all her life as a cheerleader, actress, and communications major at the University of Maryland, and especially in her role as a newscaster in Orlando, Florida and Scranton, Pennsylvania. She met Dr. James Dominic Lamm, an emergency room physician at McLeod, on a blind date in Florida. Sparks flew, and within a short few years, her beloved children, Daniel James Lamm, 30, and Helen Elizabeth Lamm (Roy), 28, were born. Beth devoted her life to her family. She was a domestic goddess whose friends knew her as the “hostess with the mostest”: an amazing cook who always made her guests - often total strangers - feel welcomed, seen, and appreciated. Her joy in life was infectious, her presence effervescent. In Florence, she made her mark as an entrepreneur in the vacation rental market, real estate agent, civic leader, charitable donor, and member of the Catholic community. Beth leaves behind her mother Patricia Powers, sister Cyndi Powers Bulka, brother Christopher Powers, her devoted husband Dr. James Dominic Lamm, son Daniel James Lamm (Meredith), and daughter Helen Lamm Roy (Matthew), as well as four grandchildren under the age of four: Mary Helen Roy (3), Clementine Elizabeth Roy (2), George Matthew Roy (10 months) and Josephine Maria Lamm (3 months). Beth, known affectionately as “Bee-Bee,” loved nothing more than to spend precious time with her grandchildren reading, cooking, and cuddling. A visitation for Beth will be held at Stoudenmire-Dowling Funeral Home on Monday, July 1st, at 5:00pm. Her funeral mass will be held at St. Anthony Catholic Church the following morning, July 2nd, at 10am. There will be a reception at the Florence Country Club following the funeral.
