Betty Mcelveen Benton

Betty McElveen Benton, 89, of Florence, SC, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Monday, October 7, 2024. Mrs. Benton was born in Florence, the daughter of the late Bertha Lurline Ghoens McElveen and Waldo Emerson McElveen. She was the owner and operator of a daycare, Betty’s Tiny Corner, for forty plus years. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Theron Franklin Benton; brother, Waldo Emerson McElveen, Jr. and her sisters, Ruby Clark, Mary Alice Gainey and Jeanette McConnell. Surviving are her daughters, Helen Jeanette Benton and Bonnie Benton (Barry) Cantey; grandson, Brandon Benton (Tammy) Cantey, who always called her “MaMa”; great-grandchildren, Braiden and Raylin Cantey; sister, Gail M. (Blair) Graham; sister-in-law, Joann Benton; a number of nieces and nephews, especially Perry Giordano; life-long best friend, Jacqueline “Jackie” Windham; and her furry friend, Dakota. The family will receive friends from 1:30 – 2:30 PM on Thursday, October 10, 2024, at Stoudenmire-Dowling Funeral Home. Graveside service will be held at 3:00 PM on Thursday at Florence Memorial Gardens directed by Stoudenmire-Dowling Funeral Home. Family wishes to express special thanks to Dr. Mark Steadman, as well as the staff of McLeod Hospice House.
