Betty Mae Gause

Betty Mae Gause, 80, of Florence, passed away peacefully on Saturday, January 21, 2023. Betty was born in Effingham, South Carolina, a daughter of the late Blease Norton and Minnie Bell Norton. She was a small business owner, running a grocery store with her late husband, Preston. She was a member of the Florence Baptist Temple. She spent her last year as a resident of the Benton House of Florence. She loved everyone there who cared for her. She would always try to help the other residents who weren’t as independent as herself. She passed away having the assurance that Jesus was her Lord and Savior. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, John Preston Gause; sister, Evelyn Strickland; and brother, James Norton. Surviving are her son Gerald Preston Gause; daughter, Barbara (Steve) Crowley; grandchildren, Becca Couick, Denise Canterbury, Allison Butler, Emily Mann, Adam Gause, Stephen (Carissa) Crowley, Jordan (Chelsea) Crowley, and Melissa Crowley; 11 great grandchildren; brothers, John (Pat) Norton, Robbie (Becky) Norton, Jesse (Kathy) Norton, and Legrand (Sandy) Norton; and sisters, Janice Powell, and Christine (Steve) Brumett; and a close family friend of many years, Judy Mishowe.
