Billy James "Trey" Matthews Iii

Billy James “Trey” Matthews III, 19, of Florence, SC, passed away on Saturday, June 29, 2024. Trey was born on August 7, 2004. From a very young age he was very curious of all things mechanical. He loved to dismantle an engine or tinker with anything that had a motor. Trey loved wholeheartedly and was fiercely loyal to his family. He could be found drifting down a dusty dirt road with a smile on his face. Trey was a daredevil on his dirt bike and loved to hunt, fish, and spend time outdoors. Surviving are his father, Billy James (Denise) Matthews Jr.; mother, Natalee Sue Matthews (Ray Jenkins); fiancé, Aryana McCoy; daughter, Braelynn McCoy; brothers, Aiden (Christa) Matthews and Gavin J. Matthews; sisters, Madison (Erica) Matthews and Branda Bunting; aunts and uncles, MaryAnn (Matt) Morris, Waylon Matthews, Eric (Jamie) Matthews and John Paul (Lorene) Carr; cousins, Jules, Andrew, Mary, Bradley, Presley, Alma, and J.J. He is preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Billy James (Elaine) Matthews of Florence, SC. Maternal grandparents, James Ashworth of Fort Pierce, FL and Valarie Carr (Ritchie Morelock) of Timmonsville, SC. The family will receive friends from 2:00 PM-3:00 PM on Friday, July 5, 2024, at Stoudenmire-Dowling Funeral Home.
