Boyd Earl Hayes

Boyd Earl Hayes, 86, of Florence, passed away on Friday, July 5, 2024. Mr. Hayes was born in Mullins, SC a son of the late Chester Chalmers Hayes and Albertine Marlowe Hayes. He was employed by Price Pools for close to 40 years. He was a devoted husband, loving father, grandfather and great-grandfather. Boyd was a hard worker and gave all of his children and grandchildren nicknames. In return they nicknamed him “Big Boo Boo”. He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, and two sisters. Surviving are his wife, Betty Joyce Brady Hayes, with whom he would have celebrated 60 years of marriage on July 10, 2024; daughters, Betty Jo (Marion) Humphrey, Lorie Ann (Brett) Richardson, and Linda Gaynelle Hayes, all of Florence; grandchildren, Frankie Humphrey and Mary (Jeffrey) Lee; great-grandchildren, Lucy Humphrey, J.W. Lee, and Hank Lee; sister, Elizabeth Smith of N.C. The family will receive friends from 6:00 – 7:30 pm Monday, July 8, 2024 at Stoudenmire-Dowling Funeral Home. Graveside services will be held at 11:00 am Tuesday, July 9, 2024 at Florence Memorial Gardens.
