Caleb Dal "CD" Spivey, Jr. Murrells Inlet,SC Caleb Dal "CD" Spivey, Jr. , 84, of Murrells Inlet, SC died Thursday, May 19, 2011, at a Grand Strand hospital after an illness. Mr. Spivey was born in Tabor City, North Carolina, a son of the late Caleb D. Spivey, Sr. and Grace Munn Spivey.He was a surveyor and civil engineer with the U. S. Soil Conservation Department and a member of the VFW Post 10420 and American Legion. Mr. Spivey was a resident of Murrells Inlet for thirty years. He was preceded in death by his parents and his siblings, Juanita S. Fipps, Alma S. Shaw and Pat S. Lee. Surviving are his son, Larry Spivey of Florence, SC; his grandson, Brent Spivey of Arden NC; his siblings, Mary S. Buffkin of Green Sea, SC, Marie S. (Wylie) Huggins, Matt S. Kennedy, Shelby S. Kennedy and Rufus T. (Anna) Spivey, all of Florence, SC;a number of nieces and nephews.Also many friends in the Murrells Inlet and Garden City area. Funeral services will be held at 3:00 PM Sunday, May 22, 2011 in the Stoudenmire-Dowling Funeral Home Chapel, in Florence. Burial will follow at Mount Hope Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 2:00–3:00pm on Sunday at the funeral home, and other times at the residence of his sister, Matt S. Kennedy, in Florence.
