Carolyn Kay Blohm

Carolyn Kay Blohm, age 83, of Florence, SC, passed away peacefully on February 9, 2023. She was born September 5, 1939, in Monroe, Michigan to Kenneth and Ethel Waldvogel. She graduated from Monroe High School in 1957. She met her husband, Lavern Robert Blohm, a 1956 graduate of Monroe High School, in the Grace Lutheran Church Youth Group. They were married on September 13, 1958, in the same church. Carolyn and Lavern moved to Florence, SC in 1967. She worked at JC Penney and then Tommy's Wholesale Florist, where she eventually retired. Her hobbies and interests included family, the church, nature and being outdoors, fishing in the lake behind her home, reading, and working on puzzles. She was an active member of the Cross and Crown Lutheran Church in Florence. Carolyn is survived by her loving husband, Lavern, of 64 years; one daughter, Joni Buxton (Artie); one son, Dennis (Ann); four grandchildren, Kevin Buxton (Madisyn), Caitlyn Elvington (Sam), Kristen Pena (Kyle), and Taylor Clark (Doug); three great grandchildren, Lyles, Eliza, and Garrett; and two sisters, Donna Fischer and Mary Lou Howe. She was preceded in death by her sister, Rose Waldvogel. The family will receive friends and loved ones from 11:30 AM to 12:00 noon on Wednesday, February 15, 2023, at Cross and Crown Lutheran Church. Funeral service will be held in the Church sanctuary at noon directed by Stoudenmire-Dowling Funeral Home. Entombment will follow at Florence Memorial Gardens Mausoleum.
