Carolyn Avin Scurry

Carolyn Avin Scurry, 93, of Florence, SC, passed away on Saturday July 30, 2022 at Medical University of South Carolina. Carolyn was born in Sumter County. She is the daughter of the late Alvin Avin and the late Ruth Griffin Avin. She is preceded in death by her husband, James Thomas Scurry Sr., her precious daughter Christie Scurry Robinson (Kenny), son James Thomas Scurry Jr. “Tommy”, grandson Charles Kenneth Robinson Jr. “Charlie”, granddaughter Opal Celeste Redding, sisters Alice Bugler (Johnny), Christine Corbett (Croley), brothers Lynwood Avin (Marie) and Griffin Avin (Corinne). Surviving are sons Randy (Marilyn) Scurry, Glenn (Pam) Scurry. Also surviving grandchildren are Dylan Scurry, Austin Scurry, Elliott Scurry, Brandy Hysong and her daughter Maris, Amy (Steve) Welch and children Anna Grace and Layton, Kevin (Emily) Scurry and children Griffin, Hampton and Lucas. Surviving sister Jeannett Rosenbaum (John) of Florida, and brother Oscar Avin of Sumter. She enjoyed sewing, baking, decorating her home, and taking care of her family. The family would like to thank Southland Health Care for their wonderful nursing care for the past eight years. Graveside service will be held at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, August 3, 2022, at Mount Hope Cemetery directed by Stoudenmire-Dowling Funeral Home.
