Catherine Ann Avent Medlin

Catherine Ann Avent Medlin entered into eternal rest on December 28, 2023, at the Presbyterian Home of Florence. She is survived by her daughters, Robin (Schley) Jones of Darlington, and Cathy (Jim) Gill of Rock Hill, and son, Bobby (Tammy) Medlin of Charleston. She also leaves behind her six much loved grandchildren, and two great granddaughters. Catherine Ann was predeceased by her daughter, Lauri Medlin, who passed in 1998, and we rejoice that they are now reunited. Catherine Ann was born in Wadesboro, NC on May 6, 1934, to the late A.R. Avent and Mary Covington Avent. She graduated from McClenaghan High School and went on to attend Anderson College. She was always proud of her brothers, and the family Pepsi Cola business that their father started. Spring was Catherine Ann's favorite time of the year when her azaleas and trees around the yard would erupt with color and beauty. She also enjoyed her time at Garden City Beach, where her property overlooked Murrells Inlet. Catherine Ann fervently supported, and for many years, attended Gamecock football. She loved her bridge club and the wonderful friends she made. Catherine Ann was a long-time member of the First Baptist Church of Florence, and knew her savior, Jesus Christ. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to First Baptist Church, 300 S. Irby Street, Florence, SC 29501. A funeral service will be held on Sunday, January 7, 2024, at 2:00 PM at First Baptist Church of Florence. The family will receive friends at the church following the service. A private committal will be held at Mt. Hope Cemetery.
