Charles Benjamin Filyaw

Charles Benjamin Filyaw, Sr., 81, of Florence, passed away on Friday, October 28, 2022. Mr. Filyaw was born in Coward, SC a son of the late I.D. Filyaw and Azalee Prosser Filyaw. Charles retired from Poston Lumber Company and had worked for Coastal Lumber Company as Mill Superintendent. He was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Michelle Filyaw; brother, Jimmy Filyaw and sister, Betty Gibbs. Surviving are his wife of 50 years, Sandra Mouzon Filyaw; son, Charles Benjamin “Benji” (Lache) Filyaw, Jr.; daughters, Denise (Williams) Purcell and Carole Anne Filyaw; grandchildren, Katherine Purcell, Will Purcell IV, Briggs Filyaw, Luiza Filyaw, Austin Jeffords, Anna Filyaw; great-grandchildren, Macie Becker, Zander Becker, Clara Becker, and Hudson Becker; brothers, Bobby (Ruth) Filyaw and Billy (Kay) Filyaw. Memorials may be made to Reedy Creek Baptist Church, 2508 S. Highway 501, Marion, SC 29571. Graveside services will be held at 11:00 am Monday, October 31, 2022 at Reedy Creek Baptist Church Cemetery directed by Stoudenmire-Dowling Funeral Home. The family will receive friends immediately following the service at the cemetery.
