Charles Merritt Grace, III Charles M. Grace, III, 84 of Effingham, SC, beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend, passed away on June 4, 2011.Mr. Grace was born in Charleston, S.C. on August 11, 1926, the son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Charles M. (Louise Kennedy) Grace, Junior.He has lived in Florence, S.C. for 84 years.He married his beloved wife Blanche Sawyer Grace in 1975. After graduating from Presbyterian College in 1946, Mr. Grace entered The United States Army, later serving in the National Guard and the Army Reserve in service to his country for 31 years.He was a State Farm Agent in Florence for 43 years and was known by all for his kindness. He was a Shriner and a Mason for over 50 years, through which he served the crippled children's hospitals tirelessly. In addition to his loving wife, Mr. Grace is survived by his two sons, Charles M. Grace, IV of Florence and his wife Kathy, and Joseph Page Grace of Greenville, S.C. and his wife, Amy. He was loved and adored by his grandchildren:Joseph Page Grace, Jr. and his wife, Erika; Anna Grace Schneider and her husband, Eric; Thomas Ayers Tallon; Mary Marshall Grace; Andrew Davis Tallon; and Charles Merritt Grace. A visitation will be held on Sunday, June 5, 2011 from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at Stoudenmire-Dowling Funeral Home, 2402 S. Irby St., Florence, S.C.Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Monday, June 6, 2011 at Stoudenmire-Dowling Funeral Home Chapel, followed by burial at Mt. Hope Cemetery, 100 Cherokee Rd., Florence, S.C. The family would like to express their appreciation to Dr. Mark Fox and McLeod Palliative Care and Hospice group.
