CHARLES WILLARD TURNER PAMPLICO, SC CHARLES WILLARD TURNER, 78, of Pamplico, died Thursday, February 17, 2011 after an illness. Mr. Turner was born in Florence County, SC, a son of the late Charles Kenneth Turner and Elma Lee Calcutt Turner. He was a veteran of the US Army and retired from Inland Timber Company.He was a member of the Pamplico Masonic Lodge, Omar Shrine Center, Pee Dee Shrine Club and Jazz Morticians Shrine Unit.Mr. Turner was a member of Mt. Zion Baptist Church in Pamplico, South Carolina where he had served in the positions of a deacon, choir member, and Sunday School Superintendent.His greatest love was for the Lord, his beloved wife, children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, family and friends.He was an avid fisherman and loved playing golf.He also enjoyed gardening and watching things grow. He was preceded in death by his parents. Mr. Turner is survived by his beloved wife, Joyce Newman Turner; his son, Paul Kenneth Turner of Pamplico, SC; his daughters, Kathi (Anthony) Poston of Little River, SC and Susan (Ben) Hunt of Little River, SC; a brother, James Allen Turner of Pamplico, SC; five grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. Services will be held at 1:00 PM Saturday, February 19, 2011 at Mt. Zion Baptist Church directed by Stoudenmire-Dowling Funeral Home.Burial will follow in Mt. Zion Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends immediately following the service in the church fellowship hall. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society, P. O. Box 22718, Oklahoma City, OK 73123-1718 or to Amedisys Hospice of Florence, 217 Dozier Boulevard, Suite 200, Florence, SC29501. The family wishes to thank the nurses and staff of Amedisys Hospice for their care and compassion during the illness of our loved one.
