Cheryl Douglas Lara

Cheryl Douglas Lara, 64, wife of Michael Anthony Lara, passed away on Sunday, June 16, 2024, surrounded by her family. Mrs. Lara was born on August 30, 1959, in Hemingway, South Carolina, daughter of the late Billie Douglas and Vermell Ward Douglas. Surviving are her husband of 34 years, Michael Anthony Lara of Florence; stepson, Joey (Olivia) Lara of Fork, SC, stepdaughter Lindsay (William) Shaffer of Myrtle Beach, SC; granddaughter Ella Kate Lara of Fork, SC; siblings, Billy (Judy) Douglas of Tabor City, NC, Ellen Douglas Wright of Little River, SC; and many special nieces and nephews. Mrs. Lara was preceded in death by a brother, Dwayne Douglas of Hemingway, SC, and a sister, Elaine Douglas Floyd of Lake City, SC. Mrs. Lara was a member of St. Paul United Methodist Church and an active member of the choir, Upper Room Sunday School, and Morning Glories Bible Study. Mrs. Lara attended Bauder College of Fashion in Atlanta, GA. In addition to fashion, her hobbies included cooking, singing, and hosting friends and family. The family would like to extend a special thank you to St. Paul United Methodist Church, McLeod Hospice House of Florence, McLeod Infusion Team, and Cousin Betty Bigham for their care and support. Visitation will be Friday, June 21, 2024, from 7:00PM - 9:00PM at Stoudenmire-Dowling Funeral Home in Florence, SC. Memorial Service will be held Saturday June 22, 2024, at 2:00PM at St. Paul United Methodist Church in Florence, SC with burial at Mount Hope Cemetery.
