Claudette Matthews Stokes, 90, of Florence, passed away on Wednesday, November, 24, 2021. Mrs. Stokes was born in Olanta, SC a daughter of the late John Wesley Matthews and Leola Welch Matthews.She was a charter member of Grace Baptist Church where she served as Treasurer and a Sunday School teacher.She was the Secretary and Treasurer of Stokes Oil Company, Inc., Distributors of Esso/Exxon Products, and was a member of the SC Oil Jobbers Association until her retirement in 2018. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Bennie William Stokes, Sr.; brothers, Tommy Matthews, James Matthews, Ralph Matthews, and Rod Matthews; sisters, Shirley Matthews Moore and Johnette Matthews Coker. Surviving are her son, Bennie William “Billy” (Marie) Stokes, Jr.; daughter, Barbara Stokes Revell of Myrtle Beach, SC; grandchildren, Brandi Stokes (Brandon) Bumgarner and Kerri Marie Stokes, both of Florence, Ryan Austin (Marsha) Revell of Columbia, SC, and Courtney Claire (Josh) Smith of Charleston, SC; great-grandchildren, William David Westmoreland and Brailon Owens Bumgarner, both of Florence, Jackson Noah Smith and Pippa Claire Smith, both of Charleston, SC, and Blake Austin Revell of Columbia, SC; sister, Carolyn Matthews Gibbs of Abingdon, VA.
