Danny Michael "Mike" Wainright

Danny Michael “Mike” Wainright, 66, of Florence, whose faith became sight after a courageous battle with cancer, passed away on Friday, March 11, 2022 at McLeod Hospice House. Mike was born in Pitt County, NC a son of Dannie Alton Wainright and Doris Owens Wainright.He was a member of Immanuel Baptist Church where he was the music director.He spread the gospel through song up and down the East coast through Mike Wainright Ministries.He retired from First Reliance Bank in 2019. He was preceded in death by his mother-in-law, Avis Petrotta. Surviving are his wife, Avis Starr Wainright; son, Clayton (Amanda) Wainright; daughter, Jennifer (William) Griffith; grandchild, Addison Griffith; his lab, Bella, that he called his little girl; his parents; brother, Steve (Lydia) Wainright; sister, Rhonda Wainright; niece, Sarah Caroline Wainright. The family wishes to extend a special thank you to Dottie and Leo O’Neal, Dr. Ziad Skaff, Dr. Rajesh Bajaj, Dr. Mark Steadman, Dr. Michael Hsia, Dr. Temujin Chavez, Dr. Mo Bourji, the staff at MUSC and McLeod Cancer Centers, McLeod Hospice House and Jessie Tanner, Leslie Munn for coordinating his care, and also to the many friends and prayer warriors who walked with the family through this journey. Memorials may be made to Immanuel Baptist Church, 306 Cherokee Road, Florence, SC29501. The family will receive friends from 2 – 3 pm Sunday, March 13, 2022 at Immanuel Baptist Church with the service to be held at 3:00 pm in the sanctuary.Burial will follow in Mount Hope Cemetery directed by Stoudenmire-Dowling Funeral Home.
