David Robert Ray, Sr.

David Robert Ray, Sr., 78, of Darlington, SC, passed away on Tuesday, January 30, 2024. Mr. Ray was born the son of the late Lonnie E. Ray and Ocie Lee Durrance McCollum. He was a member of Lake Swamp Baptist Church and retired from Lowes. He was a beloved husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Donald Ray, and his sisters, Lucille Rooks, Linda Ellis and Sandra Fulgum. Surviving are his wife, Lynda Sue Robbins Ray; sons, David Robert (Dorothy) Ray, Jr. of Jacksonville, FL, Ronald Todd (Kristin) Ray of Washington, DC, and Allen Kent Ray of Batesburg-Leesville, SC; daughter, Jennifer Lynn (Kevin) Almers of Florence; twelve grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and his brother, Larry Ray of Waycross, GA. Memorial Service will be held at 12:00 noon on Thursday, February 1, 2024, at Lake Swamp Baptist Church directed by Stoudenmire-Dowling Funeral Home. The family will receive friends from 11:00 AM – 12:00 PM on Thursday at the church. A private entombment was held at Mt. Hope Mausoleum.
