David Howard Streett, 90, of Florence, passed away on Tuesday October 4, 2022. David was born in Florence on the same family property where he later lived as an adult. He was the 17th child of Walter Mason Streett and the 8th child of Allie Ree Taylor Streett. David served in the U.S. Air Force for 20 years, where he worked as a jet engine mechanic and was stationed in many places throughout the world, including Japan and Australia. He later served as a mail carrier for the U.S. Postal Service, established a wholesale florist supply business, developed a mobile home park and volunteered with Meals on Wheels. He was a lifelong member of Friendship United Methodist Church. He and his wife Patsy enjoyed traveling across the country in their Minnie Winnie, working on various projects around their property, loving on their fur baby, Lexus, and spending time with family. He was preceded in death by his parents, his half-siblings and his siblings, Walter Mason Streett, Jr., Nell Lanford, Ida Ree Schuyler, Ethel James, Herbert Streett, Albert Streett and Elizabeth “Lib” Evans. Surviving are his loving wife of nearly 25 years, Patricia “Patsy” Ann Smith Weaver Streett, and his children and stepchildren, David Walter Streett of Florence; Mayleng (Alec) Streett Watson of Charlotte, NC; Shannon (Belinda) Smith of Florence; and Heath (Courtney) Weaver of Florence. Also surviving are his grandchildren, Shaun David Streett, John and Emily Streett Watson, Drake and Amber Smith, and Ainsley, Paxton and Paisley Weaver; his great-grandchildren, Brooklyn Massey, Baylor Smith and Adelynn Love; and many beloved nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at Friendship United Methodist Church, 5422 East Old Marion Highway, Florence, SC, at 1:00 pm Friday, October 7, 2022. Burial will follow in the church cemetery directed by Stoudenmire-Dowling Funeral Home. The family will receive friends in the church fellowship hall following the service.
