David Wayne Ray Florence, SC David Wayne Ray, 63, of Florence, died Sunday, May 8, 2011 at his residence. Mr. Ray was born in Durham, NC a son of the late Sidney Donald Ray and Agnes Dean Ray.He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Florence.He had been an auxiliary police officer for the City of Florence for 13 years and retired from Pee Dee Electric Co-Op in 2007. Surviving are his loving and devoted wife of 34 years, Mary McDonald Ray; children, Chip (Alicia) Osborne of Latta, Ashley Ray of Greenville and Davia (Justin) Bateman of Florence; grandchildren, Christian Osborne, Brennan Osborne and Jenna Bateman; brothers, Sidney (Cindy) Ray, Jr. of Knoxville, TN and Richard (Lisa) Ray of Florence; sister, Nancy (Ralph) Mullis of Wilmington, NC; five nephews and one niece. Memorials may be made to a charity of one's choice. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM Wednesday, May 11, 2011 in the Mount Hope Mausoleum Chapel.Entombment will follow directed by Stoudenmire-Dowling Funeral Home. The family will receive friends from 6 – 8 PM Tuesday at Stoudenmire-Dowling Funeral Home and other times at the residence.
