Mr. David Edward Wilson, 70, loving husband of Cathye Hardy Wilson for 33 years, passed away peacefully Sunday, June 26, 2022. Born on April 12, 1952, in Hemingway, SC, he was the son of the late Geneva “Jo” Qualls and David Edward “Ned” Wilson, Sr.Mr. Wilson was educated in the Indiantown/Hemingway school systems and graduated from Hemingway High School.He then attended Spartanburg Jr. College and earned a B.S. degree from Baptist College of Charleston, SC. He was a member of Indiantown Presbyterian Church. Mr. Wilson was introduced to the tobacco industry during his early years on his family’s farm, which led to a long career with RJ Reynolds. He was later employed by Wellman Industries before retiring from American HomePatient. David Wilson was a kind and gentle man who enjoyed spending time with family and friends. He was an avid outdoorsman enjoying hunting and fishing at his beloved “clubhouse” in Indiantown. He loved gardening, was an outstanding cook, and received great satisfaction from sharing those skills with his family and friends. His “ricebone” will go down in history. Mr. Wilson was a dedicated Gamecock fan. In addition to his mother and father, Mr. Wilson is predeceased by his three brothers-in-law, Julius “Nat” Turner, Wendell Bruce Hardy, and Randal Coker Hardy and sister-in-law Gloria Hardy Timmons. Mr. Wilson is survived by his wife, Cathye Hardy Wilson of Florence, daughter, Nicole Brunetti Avant (James Travis) and grandchildren James Mason Avant and Robert Graham Avant of Lexington, sister, Judith Wilson Turner of Frankfort, KY.Mother-in-law Mary Hardy Floyd of Florence, Sisters-in-law Pam Hardy Streett(Bobby) of Murrells Inlet, Joni Hardy Whitehead (Robert) of Pawleys Island, Susan Buddin Hardy of Charleston, brother-in-law H. Allen Timmons of Murrells Inlet, nephews Jeffrey Turner (Nicola) of St. Paul, MN, Jonathan Turner (Mary Margaret) of Frankfort, KY, Wendell Hardy (Tammy) of Naples, FL, Brooks Hardy (Victoria) of Boiling Springs, Drew Streett (Brandy) of Pawleys Island, Chandler Streett (Shawn) of Murrells Inlet, Hannah Whitehead of Mt. Pleasant, Cameron Barron (Cliff) of Lake City, and Wilson Hardy of Florence, along with many great nieces and nephews. Mr. Wilson will be truly missed by all that were blessed to be touched by his life. A memorial service will be held at 2:00pm on Saturday, July 2, 2022, at Indiantown Presbyterian Church, directed by Stoudenmire-Dowling Funeral Home. The family will receive friends immediately following the service in the church fellowship hall.
