Deke Wright

DEKE WRIGHT FLORENCE, SC DEKE WRIGHT, 62, of Florence, died Thursday, July 7, 2011 at his residence. Mr. Wright was born in Tabor City, NC a son of the late Doctor Franklin "Cedo" Wright and Annie Blake Woodell Wright.He was a US Army veteran having served 2 tours in Vietnam and was a recipient of the Purple Heart.He retired from civil service with the US Postal Service and retired from law enforcement after working with the Florence County Sheriff's Office for 15 years.He was a charter member of the Gospel Temple Worship Center. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and brother who loved spending time with his children and grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Rex Wright and Cecil Wright and a sister, Peggy Wright Kelly. Surviving are his wife of 41 years, Daisy Ross Wright of Florence; children, Dennis Bryan Wright, W. Blake (Melanie) Wright and Amber Wright (Gregory) Benton, all of Florence; grandchildren, Sterling Morgan Wright, Tyler Blake Wright, Rivers Ross Benton, Hunter Mason Benton and Madison Laura Wright; brothers, Douglas Wright of Florence, Dolan Wright of Hartsville and Rossie Wright of Loris; sister, Deborah Wright Soles of Tabor City, NC; several nieces and nephews and his loving dog, Benji. Funeral services will be held at 3:00 PM Sunday, July 10, 2011 at the Gospel Temple Worship Center.Burial will follow at Florence Memorial Gardens with full military honors directed by Stoudenmire-Dowling Funeral Home.
