Dennis Wayne Ashby

Dennis Wayne Ashby, Sr., 70, of Effingham, passed away on Saturday, January 29, 2022. Mr. Ashby was born in Booneville, Indiana a son of the late John Ashby and Genevieve Kelly Ashby.He was a US Army veteran having served in the 1st Calvary Division during Vietnam and was a Purple Heart recipient.Dennis was a member of Bethsaida United Methodist Church and retired from Rental Uniform Service. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Geneva Taylor Ashby; step-daughter, Kimmerly Taylor, and brother, Billy Ashby. Surviving are his son, Dennis W. (Jeania) Ashby, Jr. of Gray Court, SC; step-daughter, Shonda (Scott) Altman of Effingham; grandchildren, Austin (Victoria) Rosamond, Ty Ashby, Makenna Ashby, and Hampton Ashby, Cody (Cierra) Altman, and Brook Altman; great-grandchildren, Blakely Arnold, Josiah Rosamond, and Ezekiel Rosamond; sisters, Carol Kraeger and Beverly Ashby. Memorials may be made to the Fisher House Foundation, www.fisherhouse.org , which provides programs and services to veterans and their families. The family will receive friends from 11:00 am – 12:00 noon Monday, February 7, 2022 at Stoudenmire-Dowling Funeral Home with the service to be held at 12:00 noon in the funeral home chapel.Burial will follow in Prosser Cemetery.
