Dereta Weatherford Cook

DeReta Weatherford Cook, 76, of Florence, S.C. passed away August 24, 2023. Mrs. Cook was born in Florence, SC, the daughter of George C. Weatherford and Myrtle Smith Weatherford. She was a Teacher’s Assistant at Wallace-Gregg Elementary School for 34 years. She was a member of Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints and loved her family. She is preceded in death by her parents and her sisters, Yvonne Weatherford, and Faye Rabon. Surviving are her husband, Roy Junior Cook; son, Roy O. Cook (Angie); grandchildren, Boyce Collins, Powell Collins, Laurin Collins, Rorie Cook; great-grandchild, Liam Collins; and brother Danny Weatherford. Memorials can be sent to Florence Humane Society, 1434 S. McCurdy Rd, Florence, SC 29506. The family will receive friends 6:00 – 8:00 PM Sunday, August 27, 2023, at Stoudenmire-Dowling Funeral Home and any time after 5:00 PM at the family home, 1625 Malden Dr. Florence, SC 29505. A funeral service will be held at Stoudenmire-Dowling Funeral Home on Monday, August 28, 2023, at 2:00 PM. Entombment will follow at Mount Hope Mausoleum.
