Derry Jones Lowery, age 65, entered his heavenly home on March 6th, 2023 after a long fought illness. Born October 20th, 1957 in Marlboro County, SC, he was the son of Rosa Mae Jones Webster. He was a member of Peace Freewill Baptist in Florence, SC where he had many good, caring friends. Mr. Lowery had a long career at Campbell's Soup in Maxton, NC. He also catered, planned events, made cakes, and worked as a florist for many years. People around the area knew him for his cakes. Mr. Lowery loved cooking and hosting parties, especially for Christmas. Christmas was his favorite holiday and he always enjoyed decorating for it. He loved church and worshipping the Lord. Mr. Lowery is survived by his wife of 41 years, Rebecca Stone Lowery of the home in Florence; son, Jonathan Lowery (Sara); daughters, Courtney Belcher (Chip) and Deanna Miceli (Steven) of Florence; nephew, Rev. Phillip Jones (Jennifer) of McBee; grandchildren, Connor Belcher, Coby Belcher, Annalise Lowery and Abbott Lowery; great-nephews, Brayden Jones and Jace Jones; step-father, Alton Webster; aunts, Harriet Hamel (John) of Hickory, NC, Vonnie Maulden of Darlington, SC; cousins, Devon White, Danielle Turner, Andy Hunt, and many other cousins and extended family. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm on Thursday, March 9th, 2023 at Peace Freewill Baptist with burial following at Mount Hope Cemetery in Florence directed by Stoudenmire-Dowling Funeral Home. Pastor Joel Stone and Rev. Phillip Jones will officiate. The family will greet friends an hour before the service, at 1:00 pm on Thursday, March 9th at Peace Freewill Baptist. Mr. Lowery is preceded in death by his grandparents, Clifton Lowery and Beulah Williams Lowery; his mother, Rose Mae Jones Webster; a brother, George Jones, Jr.; by his aunts, Marguerite Jernigan, Peggy Hunt (Hughie); his uncles, R.C. Williams, Melvin Williams (Mageline), and Campbell Lowery; and by his cousin Ray Dowless. Flowers can be sent to Stoudemire-Dowling Funeral Home or a donation can be made to Agape Hospice.
