Donald Colburn Gibson, Sr. Quinby, SC Donald Colburn Gibson, Sr., 72 of Quinby, passed away on Tuesday, January 3, 2012 at his residence after an illness. Mr. Gibson was born in Florence, a son of the late Nelson Benjamin and Irma Touchberry Gibson.He was a Veteran of the US Army having served from 1963-65.He was the owner/operator of Carolina Driver Service from 1974-99 and was a contracted carrier for Landstar from 1999-2009. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by four brothers, NB Gibson, Norwood Gibson, Aubrey Gibson, and Travis Gibson; and a sister, Carolyn Gibson Kennedy. Surviving are his wife Joyce Watts Gibson; a son, Donald Colburn (Dawn) Gibson, Jr. of Asheville, NC; a daughter, Shelley Gibson Drulard of Mt. Pleasant; five grandchildren, Benjamin, Meredith and William Drulard, Katherine and Olivia Gibson; two brothers, Alton Gibson and Ray Gibson; two sisters, Judy Gibson Baker and Pat Gibson. Funeral services will be held 2:00 PM on Thursday, January 5, 2012 in the chapel of Stoudenmire-Dowling Funeral Home.Burial will follow at Mt. Hope Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society, 950 48th N, Suite 101, Myrtle Beach, SC 29577. The family will receive friends from 6-8:00 PM Wednesday at the funeral home.
