DOROTHY BROOKS "DOT" JERNIGAN FLORENCE, S.C. Dorothy "Dot" Jernigan, 74, of Florence, died Saturday, August 13, 2011 in a Florence hospital after an illness. Dot was born in Anderson County, a daughter of the late Amos Owen and Tennie Aileen Dobson Brooks. She had retired from La-Z-Boy Chair Company after 28 years, and was always known as an animal lover. Surviving are her husband, Horace Edwin "Terry" Jernigan of Florence; her son, Terry Alan (Gloria Dean) Jernigan of Pamplico; her daughter, Wendy Jernigan of Pamplico; brother, Carl (Carolyn) Brooks of Hopkins, S.C.; sister, Judy (Jim) Sitton of Blythewood, S.C.;and seven grandchildren, Ashleigh Brooke Yarborough of Pamplico, Chad Jernigan of Rock Hill, Corey Alan Jernigan, Becky Poston, Denise Finklea and Shannon Anderson, all of Florence, and Todd Johnson of Juneau, Alaska; and eight great-grandchildren. A Memorial Service for Mrs. Jernigan will be held at 3:00 P.M. Monday, August 15, 2011 in the Stoudenmire-Dowling Funeral Home Chapel. The family will receive friends from 2-3:00 P.M. at the funeral home.
