Dorothy Leveling Kull Mims

Dorothy Leveling Kull Mims, 95, of Florence, passed away on Wednesday, January 25, 2023. Mrs. Mims was born in East St. Louis, Illinois a daughter of the late Anthony Leveling, Sr. and Catherine Brummer Leveling. She retired in 1993 after 24 ½ years with Sears Roebuck and Co. She was a member of St. Anthony Catholic Church where she was a member of the Women of St. Anthony, serving as President and Secretary, and a past Catholic Woman of the Year. Mrs. Mims was also a member of the South Carolina Council of Catholic Women where she served as Secretary and Commission Chairperson, and a member of the Florence Deanery Council of Catholic Women where she served as President and Treasurer and was a McLeod Hospice of the Pee Dee volunteer. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Lt. Col. (Ret) Thurman O. Mims; son, Michael L. Mims; brothers, Anthony Leveling and Charles Leveling; sisters, Ernestine Kull, Rosemary Allvin, and Catherine Ann Leveling. Surviving are her daughters, Patricia Ann Kull and Melinda Mims Thompson; 2 grandchildren; 2 great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. A Christian Wake service will be held at 6:00 pm Friday, January 27, 2023 in the Stoudenmire-Dowling Funeral Home Chapel with the family to receive friends following until 8:00 pm.
