Douglas Carl Allen

Douglas Carl Allen, 91, of Effingham, SC, passed away on Monday, July 1, 2024. Mr. Allen was born the son of the late Minnie Lee Welch and Alvin Carlie Allen. He was a member of Lebanon Free Will Baptist Church and where he formerly served as a Deacon. Mr. Allen retired as a truck driver working in the logging industry. He loved to fish and garden. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his daughter, Debra Ann Allen; brothers, Lunice Allen and Wayne Allen; sisters, Lillie Mae Poston, Pearl Carraway, Jessie Lee Tiller and Alice Collins and a grandson, Justin Carl Allen. Surviving are his wife of 67 years, Chessie Mae Broach Allen; sons, Carlton Ray (Teresa) Allen, Raymond Charles (Rhonda) Allen, D. Furman Allen, all of Effingham, SC and Paul Gregory (Jodie) Allen of Florence; seven grandchildren; thirteen great-grandchildren; brother, A. C. Allen of Florence; sister, Gloria Jean Oakley of Effingham. The family will receive friends from 10 AM -11:00 AM on Friday, July 5, 2024, at Lebanon Freewill Baptist Church directed by Stoudenmire-Dowling Funeral Home.
