Edna Lee Miles

Edna Lee Miles, of Florence, passed away at the age of 84 at McLeod Hospital with her family by her side on Thursday, January 19, 2023. She was preceded in death by her father, John B. Taylor, mother, Annie Taylor Ard; siblings, Roy Taylor, Raymond Taylor, and Roseanne Lewis; and two grandchildren. Born in Florence, SC, she experienced several occupations, but driving big rigs across the United States was by far her favorite. She was a member of Bethel Freewill Baptist Church and loved spending time and cooking for her family and friends. She was a wonderful baker, and each child had their favorite cake that she made for their birthdays. She was a wonderful seamstress and passed that on to her children and grandchildren. Edna was a very generous person that helped her family in any way she could and was a loving, caring person to everyone. She had numerous pets through the years, but her pride was her Pekingese she called Boots, which was absolutely her fur baby. She shared a very special and beautiful relationship with her son, Dennis Horne, the only boy out of the 4 children. He was her primary care person for the later years of her life, which all of her children will forever be grateful for. Surviving are her oldest daughter, Pamela Oliver, her only son, Dennis Horne, a daughter, Deborah Minor Cooper, and baby girl, Judy Cooper. She also has several grandchildren from Pam; James Mckenzie, Charlie McKenzie, Frankie Mckenzie, and Courtney Mckenzie; from Deborah she has, Jody Miner, Stacy Kennedy, and Hailey Cooper; from her youngest daughter, Judy, she has a grandson, Douglas Lee Watts, granddaughter, Stephanie Nicole Cates, and step-granddaughter, Courtney Bingham. She also has 20 great-grandchildren and 6 great-great-grandchildren. She will be remembered and missed by all that had the opportunity to share a part of her life. Memorials may be made to the Florence Area Humane Society, 1434 S. McCurdy Road, Florence, SC 29506. The family will receive friends from 2:00 – 3:00 pm Tuesday, January 24, 2023 at Stoudenmire-Dowling Funeral Home with the service to be held at 3:00 pm in the funeral home chapel. Burial will follow in Florence Memorial Gardens.
