Edward Ardell Cox Jr.

On October 21, 2023, Edward Ardell Cox, Jr. passed away peacefully at his home, at the age of 73. “Eddie” was born the son of Edward A. Cox and Kathryn Huggins Cox. He was predeceased by his beloved wife of 30 years, Wanda Morris Cox. Surviving is their loving daughter, Stacy Cox Threadgill, his sisters Dale Cox (Lennie) Hicks and Jeanette Cox Lowder, and many special nieces and nephews. Eddie was a life-long member of Evergreen Baptist Church, having served as deacon. Growing up in the Evergreen community, Eddie attended Florence schools and Francis Marion University. In the 1970’s, he joined the US Army Reserves, and was stationed in Texas. He was trained as a medic and received many awards for marksmanship. Eddie worked for many years in the feed and seed and agriculture industry, retiring as a salesman for Dillon Seed. He took great pride in the family farm, spending countless hours on his tractors tending to the land. He loved fishing and piddling in his shop. Eddie’s quick wit, humor, and good heartedness will be greatly missed. Friends may visit from 5 p.m. – 7 p.m. on Tuesday, October 24, 2023, at Stoudenmire-Dowling Funeral Home. The funeral service will be on Wednesday, October 25, 2023 at 2 p.m. at Evergreen Baptist Church, 6316 Pamplico Hwy, Effingham, SC, with burial to follow at church cemetery.
