Elbert Ernest Rogers

Elbert Ernest Rogers, 87, of Florence, SC, passed away on Thursday, December 22, 2022. While stationed at Sealand Airforce base in North Whales, UK, he met his wife, Betty Wakefield from Bebington, England. The couple married on January 9th, 1958, and on October 21, 1958, gave birth to a daughter, Jane. Then, the family moved to South Carolina, and settled in Florence, where they had a son, William. After many years, Mr. Rogers retired from Nucor Steel in Darlington in 1990, after retiring he and his wife moved to Manning, SC. He was born the son of the late Heyward E. Rogers and Janie Pender Rogers. In addition to his parents, he is predeceased by his daughter, Jane Spring Skinner; and sisters, Mary Beth Davis and Evelyn Morris. He is survived by his wife; son, William H Rogers (Lynette) of Florence, SC; son-in-law, Tommy Skinner of Timmonsville, SC; brother, Edgar A Rogers of Florence, SC; grandchildren, Lauren Kremidas (Nick), Sarah Yarborough (Burnes), Jonathan Poon (Ashley); and his first great-grandchild, soon to be born, Jane Harper Yarborough. The family will receive friends from 1:00 – 2:00 PM on Tuesday, December 27, 2022 in the Florence Memorial Gardens Mausoleum Chapel with the service to be held at 2:00 PM.
