Emily Rae Gordon

January 2, 1942 — February 29, 2024

Emily Rae Gordon, 82, of Florence, passed away on Thursday, February 29, 2024 at home with her family and her loving husband of 42 years, Clair Livingston Gordon, by her side. Rae was born and raised in Darlington, SC. She was the daughter of the late Ivey and Ina Lee Clifton. She worked at Nytronics and went on to work at ESAB where she retired after 32 years. Rae and Clair enjoyed a successful catering business for many years. She was a very active member of Greenwood Baptist Church where she served and worshiped for more than 20 years and was chosen as servant of the year in 2010. She loved her church, her pastor, and her church family tremendously. Rae loved to laugh, play cards, bowl, shagging with Clair, and never turned down a road trip. Her biggest joys were her grandchildren and great-grandchildren and being called “grannie” by all. She will be sorely missed by us all. Surviving in addition to her husband, are her children, Debbie (Robin) Lewis, Donna Langley-Yarborough; step-children, Carol Franklin, Debbie G. Lewis, Sharon (Sammy) Martin, Kenny (Suzanne) Gordon, and Robert Gordon; grandchildren, Sloan (Jonathan) Campbell, Alex (Gideon) Akinsola, Leslie (James) Austin, Jeff (Marie) Martin, Brittany (Trippe) Harrington, Justin (Julieta) Lewis, Zac Langley-Yarborough, Gracen Gordon, and Sydney Gordon. She and Clair shared 14 great-grandchildren. Rae is also survived by her sisters, Patsy (Jim) Outlaw and Audrey (Toye) Stewart along with many nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends from 11:00 am – 12:00 noon Saturday, March 9, 2024 at Greenwood Baptist Church with a memorial service to be held at 12:00 noon. In lieu of flowers, her wishes were that contributions be made to Greenwood Baptist Church, 2401 Claussen Road, Florence, SC 29505.
