Esme Lena Ann Matthews, of Florence, passed away on Monday, September 26, 2022, the infant daughter of Amber Tomlinson Matthews and Michael Scott Matthews, II. She was predeceased by her maternal grandfather, Kevin Tomlinson; maternal great-grandfather, Mickey Tomlinson; maternal great-great-grandfather, Frank Tomlinson; maternal uncle, Chris Tomlinson; maternal grandmother, Maxine Tomlinson; paternal grandfather, Mike Matthews; paternal great-grandfathers, Billy Matthews and Laford Matthews and many cousins, aunts and uncles as well. She is survived by her parents; sister, Madison Matthews; maternal grandmother, Peggy Tomlinson; paternal grandmother, Charlene Moses; maternal great-great-grandmother, Leona Tomlinson; paternal grandmother, Genie Richburg; paternal aunt, Lacey Matthews; maternal aunts, Sarah Foust (Kevin Foust) and Alicia Hatmaker; maternal uncle, David Hensley (Sheena Hensley) and lots of cousins whom loved her dearly and many more aunts and uncles. Family will receive friends from 1:00 – 2:00 PM on Tuesday, October 4, 2022, at Stoudenmire-Dowling Funeral Home. I prayed for you my whole life, I prayed to know the feeling of my baby being placed on my chest and sweet girl you and God fulfilled that prayer and I wouldn't change a single thing. You are perfect to me and your daddy. You were so incredibly strong and I knew it from the time you were first placed on my chest you were suckling on my ears and my face and you kept lifting your head up to look at your daddy, but even after that you went on to spend 3 whole days with us. All the doctors and the nurses did not believe that would be possible but me and daddy knew you were our little fighter. You loved us big, sweet girl and we felt it and we would like to think you felt just how much we loved you; I know you did actually because you thrived for 3 days. You will forever be in our hearts my precious baby and forever be missed, I promise there won't be a day that goes by without you on our minds. Until we meet again, we love you ❤ Mommy & Daddy
