ESSIE MAE EDWARDS OSBORNE Florence, S.C. Essie Mae Edwards Osborne, 80 of Florence, died Thursday, February 10, 2011 in a Florence hospital after an illness. Mrs. Osborne was born in Darlington County, a daughter of the late Mortimer Monroe and Winnie Catherine Gandy Edwards. Having lost a son in Vietnam, she was a Goldstar Mother. She was a homemaker and had worked at one time at the Greyhound bus station. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two husbands, C. W. Osborne and Charles Davis, and five children, Lance Cpl. Charles Davis, Mary Tanner, Catherine Chavis, Johnny Davis and Larry Davis. Surviving are her daughter, Julia Edmonds of Florence, 9 grandchildren; James Ferrill, Donna Morris, Julie Morris, Michele Morris, Victoria Rich, Susan Stone, Charles Tanner, Boyd Chavis and Tonya Vlahos, 11 great-grandchildren, 3 great –great-grandchildren, and a number of nieces and nephews. Funeral service will be held at 3:00 P.M. Sunday, February 13. 2011 in the Stoudenmire-Dowling Funeral Home Chapel. The family will receive friends from 2-3:00 P.M. Sunday at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Carolinas Hospice, 121 East Cedar Street, Florence, SC 29501 or to St. Judes Children's Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
