Eugene Hoyt Taylor, Jr.

Eugene Hoyt Taylor, Jr., 82, of Hartsville, passed away on Wednesday, May 24, 2023. Mr. Taylor was born the son of the late Vivian Cannon Taylor and Eugene Hoyt Taylor, Sr. He was a veteran of the US Army, having served during Vietnam as a Chaplain’s Assistant. He was an Agriculture Science Associate One at Pee Dee Research Center. After retiring after 29 ½ years, he worked at Robey’s Wicker as a salesman. He was a member of Unity Baptist Church where he served as an usher and was on the Business Committee. In addition to his parents, is predeceased by his brother, Gerald Eugene Taylor. Mr. Taylor is survived by his wife of 52 years, Elizabeth Altman Taylor; daughter, Kim (DJ) Holland of Hartsville; and brothers, Billy (Beth) Taylor of Florence and Larry (Sandra) Taylor of North Carolina. Family will receive friends from 1:00 – 2:00 PM on Tuesday, May 30, 2023, at Stoudenmire-Dowling Funeral Home Chapel. Funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM on Tuesday at Stoudenmire-Dowling Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow at Florence Memorial Gardens Cemetery with military honors.
