Fred Walter Gaertner

FRED WALTER GAERTNER FLORENCE, SC FRED WALTER GAERTNER, 80, of Florence, died Tuesday, November 09, 2010 at the McLeod Hospice House after an illness. Mr. Gaertner was born in Chicago, Illinois, a son of the late Alfred B. and Bertha Gaertner.He retired from the US Coast Guard having served during the Vietnam Era.He was a longtime member of Willow Creek Baptist Church where he served as a deacon. Surviving are his wife of 58 years, Leona Bright Gaertner of the home; daughters, Kimberly G. (Will) Hobbs and Gerri G. (Walter) Maurice, both of Florence; sister, Anita (George) Lewis-Schmoll of Illinois; brother, Harold O. Gaertner of Missouri. Memorials may be made to Willow Creek Baptist Church, 3089 North Old River Road, Pamplico, SC29583. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM Thursday, November 11, 2010 in the Stoudenmire-Dowling Funeral Home Chapel.Burial will follow in the Willow Creek Baptist Church Cemetery, Pamplico. The family will receive friends from 1 – 2 PM Thursday at the funeral home.
