Genevieve Elaine Cox Baxley Pettigrew Florence, SC Genevieve Elaine Cox Baxley Pettigrew, 82, of Florence passed away Sunday, August 5, 2012 at her residence after an illness. Mrs. Pettigrew was born in Johnsonville, SC, a daughter of the late Ovid Cortez and Martha Elizabeth Brown Cox. She was a faithful member of Ebenezer Baptist Church and the Willing Workers Sunday School Class.Mrs. Pettigrew was a retired home economics teacher, having taught in both Florence and Darlington County Schools. She was a loving Mother and Grandmother. Mrs. Pettigrew is preceded in death by her parents; by her husbands, Dathan Lerah Baxley, and Keith Alexander Pettigrew, Sr. Mrs. Pettigrew is survived by three sons, Barry Ovin Baxley (Linda Raye Upton) of Forest City, NC, Garry Owin Baxley of Lexington, and Keith Alexander (Angela Blackwell) Pettigrew, Jr. of Florence; six grandchildren, Britt Ryan(Jacquelyn Leigh) Baxley, and Amanda Eran (Micheal Thomas) Johnson both of Florence, James Owin Baxley of Irmo, Mary Caitlin Pettigrew, Keith Alexander Pettigrew, III, and Joseph Ethan Pettigrew all of Florence; three great-grandchildren, Briyona Winter Johnson, Zayden Micheal Johnson, and Davian Joule Johnson. Funeral Services will be held 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, August 8, 2012 at Ebenezer Baptist Church. Burial will follow at Ebenezer Baptist Church Cemetery directed by Stoudenmire-Dowling Funeral Home. The family will receive friends following the service on Wednesday at the church. Memorials may be made to Ebenezer Baptist Church, 524 South Ebenezer Road, Florence, SC 29501.
