George John Soulantikas

George John Soulantikas, of Florence, SC, passed away on Sunday, July 9, 2023 at the age of 61. Mr. Soulantikas was born the son of the late Mary Ellen Hummel Soulantikas and John George Soulantikas. George was a protective big brother, loving husband, dedicated father, and proud grandfather. A devout man of faith, he provided for and cherished his family as his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, exemplified. A skilled machinist, he was the owner and operator of Vetha Machine Co., a business he and his father built and named to honor their Greek heritage. He shared a love of animals, of all kinds, with his family and never turned away a creature in need (especially cats!). George lived his life as an enthusiastic hobbyist. He enjoyed collecting model trains, coins, and stamps from around the world. He also was a self-proclaimed, life-long nerd! He spent his free time watching classic sci fi films, creating with Legos, deciding which Star Trek series was the best, and obsessing over everything Godzilla. Being the outgoing and generous soul that he was, George was a long-time supporter of the West Florence High School Marching Knights. He took pride in doing any task that would help those students succeed on the football field and had a knack for finding a solution to every problem that popped up. He was, and will forever be, a wonderful example of what a “Band Dad” can be! In addition to his parents, he is predeceased by his brother, James John Soulantikas. Mr. Soulantikas is survived by his loving wife of 33 years, Robin Soulantikas; daughters Lindsay Hopkins and Morgan Soulantikas; and grandchildren, Kyleigh Hopkins, Carson Hopkins, Kinzley Hopkins, and Colbyn Hopkins; and his adoring sister, Christina Soulantikas. Trisagion will be at 5:00 PM on Wednesday, July 12, 2023, at Stoudenmire-Dowling Funeral Home, with visitation immediately following until 7:00PM. Funeral service will be held at 11:00AM on Thursday, July 13, 2023, at Transfiguration of Our Savior Greek Orthodox Church, at 2990 S. Cashua, Florence, SC 29501, directed by Stoudenmire-Dowling Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Florence Memorial Gardens. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society, at P. O.
