GEORGE WAYNE JOHNSON FLORENCE, SC GEORGE WAYNE JOHNSON, 73, of Florence, died Sunday, July 10, 2011 at his residence after an illness. Mr. Johnson was born in Horry Co., SC a son of the late Mac Johnson and Georgia Martin Johnson.He was a veteran of the US Army 82nd Airborne division. He was employed as a Truck Driver for the past 30 years, before his recent retirement. He had attended Aynor High School. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Sherrill Johnson; brothers, Malcolm, Windell and J.D. Johnson; sister, Erlene Hyman. Surviving are his sons, David Johnson of Arkansas, Keith Johnson of Myrtle Beach and Brian Johnson of Florence; daughter, Karen Johnson Waddell of Charleston; brother, Palmer Johnson of Conway; sister, Sylvia Bone of Conway; 5 grandchildren; his loving companion, Phyllis Collins of Florence. Memorials may be made to Hospice Care of South Carolina, 1800 Second Loop Road, Suite 16, Florence, SC29501. The family will receive friends from 12:00 – 1:00 Wednesday at Stoudenmire-Dowling Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday at Florence Memorial Gardens Chapel.
