Geretha Mckissick Rose

Geretha “Reat” McKissick Rose, 92, of Florence, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, January 17, 2023. The family will receive friends from 1:00 – 2:00 pm Saturday, January 21, 2023 at Grace Baptist Church with the service to be held at 2:00 pm in the church sanctuary. Burial will follow in Florence Memorial Gardens directed by Stoudenmire-Dowling Funeral Home. Reat was born in Hyman, SC, the daughter of Gary Washington McKissick and Alberta Stone McKissick. She graduated from Hannah High School in 1947. She retired as a gas solderer from ESAB in 1993. She was a member of Grace Baptist Church and the Senior Adult Ladies Sunday School Class. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Jack Raymond Rose, Sr.; son, Jack Raymond Rose, Jr.; brother, A.J. McKissick; sisters, Judy Raye McKissick and Renetta McKissick Poston. Her family was her greatest joy and she looked forward every year to the Stone Family reunions and homecomings at Prospect United Methodist Church. The Stone/Hicks family were more like siblings to her than cousins. Survivors include her daughter-in-law, Pat Shelley Rose; granddaughters, Dana (Michael) Lewis and Shelley (Randy) Wells, both of Anderson, SC; great-grandchildren, Caroline Rose Lewis, Chandler Parks Lewis, Jackson Randall Wells, and Anna Claire Wells; nephews, Denny Rose, Ben Rose, and Bobby Rose; nieces, Rachel (Jose) Guzman and Rose Marie (Randy) Rogers; and a close family friend of more than 75 years, Tommy Thompson. The family would like to thank McLeod Home Hospice and McLeod Hospice House for their compassionate care and ministry to the family.
