Gladys Eloise Yarborough Mitcham

Gladys Eloise Yarborough Mitcham was greeted by her Heavenly Father on January 12, 2023. Gladys was born in Marion, SC in 1927 and later moved with her family to Granite Falls, NC. After graduation from Granite Falls High School, Gladys met Roy “Wayne” Mitcham and married in 1946. They had 4 children, Gerald (Mimi) Mitcham, twins, Glenn Mitcham and Gwyn Mitcham, and Victoria Simmons (John Lewis). Wayne and Gladys moved to Florence, SC in 1967 and became members of Grace Baptist Church. In addition to their children, Gladys and Wayne were blessed with 3 grandchildren, Adam (Lauren) Brown, Summer Brown (Shawn Arraj), and Wendy (Jonathan) Courtney. They were further blessed with 5 great-grandchildren, Sarah Beth (Cris) Averette, Joel (Erica) Courtney, Janie Parnell, David Brown, and Sophia Walker, and 2 great-great-granddaughters, Tori and Campbell Averette. Gladys was preceded in death by her parents, William “Tom” Yarborough and Mabel Yarborough; 2 brothers; husband, Roy Wayne Mitcham; and her twins, Glenn and Gwyn. The family will receive friends from 10 – 11 am Monday, January 16, 2023 at Lamb’s Chapel, 3414 Southborough Road, Florence, SC 29501 with the service to be held at 11:00 am in the church sanctuary.
