Glenda J. Nance

October 6, 1948 — July 16, 2024

It is with sad hearts that we announce that Glenda J. Nance, 75 of Florence, SC, passed away at McLeod Hospice House on July 16th 2024. Glenda was the daughter of the late Victor James Jones and Buena Keefe Jones. Glenda is survived by her loving and devoted husband, Kenneth B. Nance of 50 years. She is also survived by her 3 children-Paige Thomas (Cooper), Ashley Nance (Danielle), and Austin Nance. Glenda, best known as “Grammy,” is also survived by her 7 grandchildren- Jackson and Maddison Thomas, Blaker and Eloise Nance, and Harley, Dawson, and Blayson Nance. She is also survived by her siblings-Sheryl Pope (Roger Pope, pre-deceased), Sidney Jones, and Ricky Jones, along with numerous cousins and nephews. Glenda was a graduate of Hannah-Pamplico High School. She had a long and successful career in the legal profession both as a paralegal and a legal secretary which spanned over 50 years. During this time, she worked for the late Senator Thomas E. Smith, Jr., the Honorable W. Haigh Porter, the current Master in Equity for Florence County, and the Honorable R. Bryan Harwell, United States District Judge, District of South Carolina. She worked up until the end of her illness in the Clerk’s Office for the United States District Court. She loved her work and was truly devoted to the career that she built in the legal profession. She was also very proud of the relationships she made with many people that she called her “work friends” over the many years. Glenda, known as “Mrs. G” at the Federal Courthouse in Florence, was beloved by everyone. Glenda was a true example of a loving wife, mother, grandmother and friend. She met the love of her life, Ken, on a blind date and knew he was the one for her when she first met him. They loved to dance the Shag and eat crab legs at the beach. Glenda’s other talent was being a fabulous cook which was much needed if you know her husband, Ken, and his love for food. The family would like to express their sincere appreciation to Drs. Alan Blaker, Brian Blaker, Rajesh Bajaj, Prabal Guha, Vinod Jona, Vipul Shah, Ryan Fuchs, William Naso, Virginia Clyburn-Ipock, Cory Smith and Patrick Jebaily and staff as well as the McLeod Hospice House for their kind and compassionate care during her illness. Services and arrangements are being handled by Stoudenmire-Dowling Funeral Home. Visitation will be held Friday, July 19th from 5:00-7:00 pm. The Funeral will be held at the Stoudenmire-Dowling Funeral Home Chapel on Saturday, July 20th at 11:00 am. The family will also receive visitors following the service at the home of Ashley and Danielle Nance. All are welcome to come by and share your memories and love for Glenda.
