Grace Allen Mims Pigate

Grace Allen Mims Pigate Effingham, SC Grace Allen Mims Pigate, 90, of Effingham, SC, passed away peacefully Wednesday, November 16, 2011 at her residence after an illness. Mrs. Pigate was born on March 23, 1921 in Coward, SC, a daughter of the late Alonzo Parrott Mims and Annie Mae Conyers Mims. She was a lifelong member of Bethel Baptist Church and the Louetta Strickland Sunday School Class. Mrs. Pigate worked at Southside High School for thirteen years and was an avid gardener. She is preceded in death by her parents; her husband, John Elton Pigate; a brother, Carl Foster Mims; and by a grandson, Chris Touchberry. She is survived by her daughters, Carolyn Pigate (John) Touchberry and Phyllis Pigate (Frank) Clark, both of Florence; 4 grandchildren, Robin (Chris) Hewitt of Florence, Amy (Clint) Scott of Florence, Carey Clark and her fiancé Kelsey Dickinson of Georgetown, and Megan (Gary) Hinson of Florence; and 6 great-grandchildren, Chloe Scott, Hayden Scott, Maddie Scott, Ella Scott, Kaylee Hewitt, and Logan Hinson. Funeral Services will be held 11:00 a.m. Friday, November 18, 2011 at Bethel Baptist Church.Burial will follow at Florence Memorial Gardens directed by Stoudenmire-Dowling Funeral Home.
