Guy A. Proctor, Jr.

Guy A. Proctor, Jr. of Effingham, 83, passed away Saturday, July 27, 2024, peacefully at home. Mr. Proctor was born in Olanta, SC, a son of the late Guy A. Proctor, Sr and Caroline M. Proctor. He was a Mason and member of Beulah Lodge #259 in Olanta. He managed the Florence branch of Southchem, Inc. before moving to FL in 1987 and operating his own Lake Property Management Business. Here he enjoyed sailing, golf, bee keeping, beer crafting, fishing, woodworking and reading. In 2006, he and his wife returned to Florence to be closer to family and enjoy retirement. He reunited with his home church, Nazareth United Methodist where he served as an administrative board member and trustee. He was dedicated to consistently reaching out to church members and shut ins. He also contributed an article to the United Methodist Advocate on the elderly and hearing. Surviving are his wife, Renee H. Proctor; son, Guy A. Proctor, III of St. Pete, FL; daughter, Whitney P. Webb (Rodney) of Spring, TX; sisters, Carol McPhail and Betty Reeves of Shelby, NC, and Joyce Proctor (Amos) of Richmond, VA; and brother, William Proctor (Kim) of Olanta, SC; three grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Memorials can be made to Nazareth United Methodist Church, P.O. Box 368, Olanta, SC 29114. Family will receive friends from 10:00 – 11:00 AM on Thursday, August 1, 2024, at Stoudenmire-Dowling Funeral Home.
