Homer A Ervin

Homer A. Ervin, 84, of Florence, went home to be with his Lord on Thursday, January 19, 2023. Mr. Ervin was born the son of the late Ernest Archie Erwin and Mary Erwin. He was a member of Palmetto Street Church of God. Homer was a paratrooper in the US Army, during which the Army paperwork changed his name from Erwin to Ervin, which he just kept for the remainder of his life. In addition to his parents, he is predeceased by his sisters, Viola Berry, Mary Lou Jarrell, Ila May Erwin, and Francis Aunda; his brothers, Alton Erwin and Ernest Erwin Jr.; and daughter, Martha Jean Ervin. Mr. Ervin is survived by his wife, Gwendolyn Oakley Ervin; sister, Lib LaFever; son, Homer A. (Stephanie) Ervin, Jr.; daughters, Ann Case and Denise (Wesley) Stroman; along with 5 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. Funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM on Monday, January 23, 2023, at Palmetto Street Church of God. Entombment will follow at Florence Memorial Gardens Mausoleum directed by Stoudenmire-Dowling Funeral Home. Family will receive friends from 1:00 – 2:00 PM on Monday, January 23, 2023 at the church.
