H.W. Turner

H. W. Turner, Sr., 92, of Effingham, passed away Tuesday, January 09, 2024. Mr. Turner was born in Florence County, SC to the late Hugh W. Turner and Jennie Pridgen Turner. He was married for 70 years to his lifelong best friend, Daisy Eloise Morris Turner. Mr. Turner worked hard all his life. He was a great example for his children and loved spending time with his family. He was well known and respected in the community. He enjoyed farming, selling cars and operated Turner’s Used Cars for many years. He is preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Eloise; daughters, Margaret Wilkes, and Joanne Gainey; son in law, Arvle Wilkes, and Kerry Craig; siblings, Eugenia Prevatte Conner, Arbie Turner, Drucilla Caulder, Wilcox Turner, Robert “Buddy” Turner, Hugh Bubba Turner, Wessie Powell, Maebell Powell, Fannie Powell, Archie Rhea Powell. He is survived by sons, Kip Turner, H.W. “Bo” (Michelle) Turner, Jr; daughters, Judy Craig, Edith (Jerry) Watts, Jeannie (Robbie) Strickland, Connie (Mark) Braddock; grandchildren, Billy Keith Lawhon, Brandy (Matt) Hatchell, Jay (Jessicca) Watts, Casey (Alex) Tarlton, Meredith Strickland, Courtney (Kyle) Lewis, Christopher (Tierney) Braddock, Hunter Turner, Haedyn Turner, Angela (Michael) Bell; great grandchildren, Lilly Hatchell, Lane Hatchell, Zoie Watts, Teagan Watts, Oliver Braddock, Ellis Braddock, Lakeyn Tarlton, Maebry Tarlton, Huntley Tarlton, Gunner Tarlton, and Vada Kate Lewis. Special thanks to his dedicated and faithful caregivers, Meredith Strickland, Jane Sweatt, and Lera Isaac. Memorials may be made to Agape Hospice, 301 Rainbow Drive, Florence, SC 29501. The family will receive friends from 10:00 – 11:00 AM Friday, January 12, 2024, at Stoudenmire-Dowling Funeral Home, with the service to follow at 11:00 AM in the chapel.
