Irene Christmas Brown

Irene Christmas Brown, 91, of Florence, went to be with her Heavenly Father Sunday, Nov. 13, 2022, at her home with family surrounding her. Mrs. Brown was born in Marion County, a daughter of the late Robert and Nettie Christmas. She attended the public schools of Marion County and was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She was a retiree of La-Z-Boy after 30 years of service and a volunteer for MUSC for another 20 years. Surviving are her two daughters, Mona B. Ansay (Michael Dunn) of Laurel Hill NC and Tammy ( Reggie) Jackson-Byrd of Florence; 11 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; and 2 great-great grandchildren; 1 brother, Paul Christmas of Murrells Inlet SC and a special friend, Becky Gaskins, whom she admired like a daughter. She is preceded in death by her husband of 54 years, Willie Lofton Brown; three infant children; two sons, Foster Delon Brown and Billy Brown; daughter, Audrey Mae Brown; son, Robert Willie Brown; son-in-law, Robert Leo Ansay; one sister and four brothers. The family would like to thank Cassie-Jo- Davis of MUSC (Niece) for going the extra step to ensure that our mother received the best of care, a special thanks to ALL of the employees of MUSC for the special attention shown to our mother throughout the years of volunteering work, we are forever thankful. The family would like to thank her nurses of Amedisys Hospice Care; Alex Weatherford, Vanessa Davis, and Katelyn Brooke, what a blessing you have been to our mother. The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday Nov,16 2022 at Stoudenmire-Dowling Funeral Home. Funeral service will be at 3 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 17 2022, at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Burial will follow at Liberty Chapel UMC Cemetery.
